Why Pray?

Eph. 6:18 from the Message was so timely for me that I wanted to share it with you. Parentheses are my additions. ;-)
“Be prepared. (through prayer, reading the Word, and fellowshiping wth other believers) You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. (God will never give us more than we can handle with his help). Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. (Put on the full armor of God). Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. (May our life be filled with this oh so essential things! I need help with peace!) Learn how to apply them. (Doing is harder than reading or thinking or learning). You'll need them throughout your life. (Every single day!) God's Word is an indispensable weapon. (The words not the Bible itself, although it worked in Tom & Huck ;-) In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. (Essential) Pray hard and long (And often). Pray for your brothers and sisters (and those who have yet to believe). Keep your eyes open (Be alert!). Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out (Don't give up!).”

Eph. 6:18 in the NIV.
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."
